That is it. The one I bought has finger groove wood grips. They are kind of purty. Switching browsers, I was able to post an image of it. Pretty sporty looking. I hadn't noticed the solid trigger shoe. I guess that's to prevent Private Conscriptovich from getting the tip of his glove stuck behind the trigger in Russian winter? Could be. Not a very large trigger guard for Winter glove wearing. These grips appear to be wider than the OEM grips. That might help with felt recoil. Although, from what I read these are heavy enough (all steel) to "absorb" some felt recoil. I had a Walther P5 which is about the same size and recoil never affected me. I never fired +P ammunition in the Walther.

Barrel lengths on autoloaders are different from revolvers. (Duh.) With revolvers you have the WHOLE length of the barrel plus a bit of the chamber. With auto loaders stated barrel length starts at the base of the cartridge, so to get the actual barrel length you have to deduct cartridge length. I did not know that. Interesting. I assumed barrel meant just that. We shall see what this one turns out to be when I strip it for cleaning and oiling. There should be a YouTube video for instruction. Being a Russian design it is likely a simple operation. I went to the Zastava USA website looking for magazines. They have a nice AK47 variant in 7.62 NATO (.308). While I have little need for that it is appealing. The PAP M77.

While I was sleeping these past six months whilst on Chemotherapy, the State of New Mexico imposed a seven day wait period on gun purchases. That is unless one has a CCW permit. Mine expired years ago. I guess I will have to start over with the class, range qualification, and background check. It is always the legal gun owners who have to bear the burden of regulation. Oh, well, it is not that inconvenient. Just one more hurdle in life's journey.

There was a story some years back that highlighted the stupidity of โcooling offโ gun registration implemented in certain states. By the cooling off period it presupposes that people are hotheads wanting to buy a gun and kill others.
The storyโฆtrue. A woman faced a clear and present danger in New Jersey, and had a violent boyfriend/ husband that vowed to kill her. She had a clean background and played by the rules. As she waited for the paper allowing her to defend herself, he violently killed her.
Not sure if she was posthumously granted the right to defend herself.
In NJ, probably not.

In NM, a CCW permittee is exempt from the seven day waiting period. I let my license expire without renewal years ago years ago. So, I figure now is the time to begin the renewal process.

My friends from California were astounded when they accompanied me to Cabelas and I walked out with a handgun in 15 minutes tops.

A severely diabetic teenager in 1999 got pregnant. During her mandatory waiting period to get an abortion, her blood sugar dropped precipitously, she went into diabetic coma, and died.
Not sure if she was posthumously granted permission to terminate her pregnancy.
In AZ, probably not.
Rules, both permissive and prohibitive, always have tragic edge cases. Every controversial policy has them. They are unavoidable.

Is it strange that I come to a pipe and tobacco forum for my gun talk? I guess I should go over to the SIG forum and bring up tobacco.๐ The gun forums are mostly populated by a$$holes with too much testosterone. I'm on several but I rarely post except to say nice gun or similar.

Guns are here, in my view, as part of a genuine community which they share with pipes, cigars, tobacco, dogs, gardens, cooking, ukuleles, and quite a few more.

Also, I often find it difficult to decipher the thought many folks are trying to convey on gun forums. People here tend to write in coherent, complete sentences....

Today I visited my Zastava Model88A at the gun store handling the transfer. Paperwork and background check completed. Looked it over. Nice little piece. About the size of a Colt 1903. Thinner than I thought. The grips are nice and wide which will help with felt recoil when loaded with Atomic Cannon ++++P++ ammo. You know the nuclear particle sized projectile with muzzle velocity approaching light speed. . Seriously, bought 124 grain FMJs for practice and Sig Sauer 115 grain HPs for self defense. No +P ammo for this little gun.

I bought a SIG P320X Compact from a buddy today. Funny, because I originally had it on lay-away and then the shop put out a P226 Legion SAO which I bought instead. He ended up buying the P320 and now 6 months later I am buying it. Haha!

I got the .45 Shield from the FFL today; it feels good in the paws, a DeSantis holster was included, I think I need to pick up a matching double mag holster.
