John, a good smith can make you what you want but it will be expensive. Maybe try painting your FRONT sight with a bright dot at the proper height. The Soviets and the Chinese did not have trouble with judicial back-of-the-neck work.

My eight round magazine arrived today. Fits and functions fine. My bug fingers easily fit into the space between the grip but and the magazine bottom plate. I thinking of adding something for that gap. I tried a leather cord but too funky looking for me! Shot a few magazines at a paper target. These Sovietski military sights are not good. I can barely find the front blade sight. I have to shoot with one eye closed as I have close range double vision which does not help. From a traumatic brain injury as a young child. I doubt there are replacement sights ready made. So, I am thinking of sight paint. Now, I tend to like yellow over white in gernal. Does anyone have an opinion? Bob, please give me your expert opinion. Any others are welcome, too. A common theme of owners of these guns is that the front sight is too tall. Accurate shooting means the front sight about half way above the rear sight. That was so when I tried it. Even sights means low on the target. I am not ready to file the front sight down yet but that may be helpful. I think these are Tokarev battle sights. The Ivans shoot the original 7.25 X 25 guns at long battlefield ranges. At least if one believes what they see in the Russian war movies. I am interested in about twelve feet. I did not try fifty or 80 feet. Maybe painting the rear sight half way up in yellow with white on the upper part? Yes, I can make this really complicated.... They are probably the same sights as the 7.62. I've read recent reviews about people shooting 100 yard gongs with the Tokarev. Mine is accurate enough at 50 yards I waa pleasenty surprised. I'm happy with one magazine even though I picked up a second one still in cosmoline.

That is why they developed it for dealing with Heine pests in open country. Mother Russia has lots of open space. I have to admire them for that. I could see owning a T33 with some kind of scope. Maybe a detachable butt stock like the Mauser C96? Just a thought.

Yes. The ATF will be pondering that with you.

Yes. The ATF will be pondering that with you. I met the SA who covers this area some years back following a burglary of many pounds of black powder and some guns. I had a C&R License back then. Turns out he was raised here and I know his family. Nice guy. If he or the Bureau have problems with a stock equipped Tokarev, I will be surprised. Funny story with him. He had to climb a set of steep stairs to reach the door of my office. When I met him at the door he told me he left his credentials in the car below. He introduced himself as a Treasury ATF Agent. I responded with Chicago PD Officer Malone's (Sean Connery) great line, "Who would claim to be that who was not?" We had a nice chat in my office. The quantity of powder missing was of concern but not high on their list of priorities.

The sight paint finally arrived. You know, Brighter Sights company. I managed to make a mess out of it what with my close up double vision and shaking hands. Cleaned up the mess and will try to get a second coat on tomorrow. It seems to help but the front blade is too small. It is dove tailed so I might be able to get a fiber optic front mounted or something else.

Aim has S&W 5946 in great condition on sale for 329. I'm seriously tempted. DAO version for police changing from double action revolvers. Superior quality because they were made in a S&W factory that specialized in precision machining. Only pistol made there. All 59 parts and mags fit. 9.9 pound trigger pull that's perfect for revolver users.

Yeah, the 59s are wonderful in the hand. Super accurate too. 13oz more than a Glock.

I looked at one in our local store. Grips too wide for my short fingers. Poor trigger contact. The 39 is better suited. Sticking with single stacks.

I have never had a pistol that was too big for me. My Star 30M is huge. Colt peacemakers fit fine as well as 1858 Remingtons. The only gun I can't get a grip on is my danged Ruger Blackhawk 44sp. Very frustrating.

Never held an 1858 Remington but I did have a Ruger Old Army which is patterned after the Remington and that was fine. I have large hands but my palms are longer than my fingers. I suppose there is an interpretation as to what that means, LOL.

It’s very flat, 10-12 rounds of 380. I’ve watched a lot of positive reviews on it. Minimal negative feedback. It should serve me well.

Very nice, Don. I think S&W does good work with their semiautos. And.. the current self defense rounds of the .380 are far different than the past.

My wife carries a Sig P238, a really nice platform for the .380 if it fits your paws.

I still have the note John sent me. “Bob, Please send me detailed dimensions of your right hand. I want to make the grip frame of my new Browning P35 to match your hand EXACTLY!”
