I will not have a cat in the house. I don't even like them in a Cat house! đ We'll have to take your word on that.

Had the first real snow of the winter last night. Several inches. Our 4 and a half month old puppy loves it!
She's running around the yard, tearing through snow deeper than her belly, nipping at it. Very excited by it all. She comes back in crusted with snow and ice.

Last night, I perused the humane society website to see who was currently "incarcerated" ... wish I could take them all. We've talked in the past of opening our own 501c3 shelter and lately my job sucks. Hmmmmm??

Saw a good dog movie last night, Call Of The Wild, then learned it was a computer enhanced dig, never the less I enjoyed it.

My Australian Shepherd female, "Izzy" is quite attached to me. Every where I go, she is there. I have tripped over her a couple of times while making a turn to fast. So, she has earned a last name. She is now officially known as "Izzy Underfoot".
Marbles, on the other hand, is content to wander about alone. He will follow me a distance but never closes in on his own. I appreciate that about him.

You may recall me posting about having to put down my German Shepherd/Rottweiler dog last week due to bone cancer. The dog that I have left is half-boxer and half border collie. She is a good dog of about 3-4 years old. Brindle with a nose like a border collie. I got in touch with the lady that we adopted her from (a farm) and she has a 5 year old boxer/border collie mix male that is an uncle to my dog. He is about 60-70 pounds and is black and white. I'm interested in adopting him but only if he passes a heartworm test. The dog on the left is the one that had bone cancer; the one on the right is my boxer/border collie mix.

That is a couple of nice looking pooches, John.
I think that is a wise choice for a dog owner as one is in decline, bringing another into the fold to be the wise mentor, and maybe ease the impending loss on the horizon.

I couldn't find an extant thread on our Best Friends so I thought I'd try to start one. If I missed one I apologize and the mods can delete this one and I join the other. I've had a lot of trouble adding pics to posts, but MAY have discovered how to do it. I'm attaching a pic (hopefully!) of my boy Jack at one year. He's a German Shorthaired Pointer, sometimes called a Deutcher Kurzhaar, but more usually just GSP. He's ten now but still sharp as a tack. We are both working at training a new family member, Eli, who turned five months just yesterday.
I'm hoping others will post about their furry buddies.
Every time I click on this thread, I tell myself âwhat a fine looking ladâ

He's his own guy. Might also be afraid he will be stepped on. He is a dog with an independent personality for sure. He likes getting a good pet and rub in the evening but he is not an underfoot type dog. He likes to roam around the front and back yard on his own and listen to the sounds in the distance. I make certain to talk around him so he has some idea where I am. Kind of like a tied horse. We watch out for each other.

Just think, Johnâ people and dogs have been âwatching out for each otherâ for about 30,000 years. No wonder weâre family. I wouldnât have it any other way.

Wife has asked me several times lately if I want a dog. It would have to be a smaller dog, apparently. On the other hand, while I really like dogs, I'm not excited about the prospect of outliving another one. It gets really hard after a while.

I havenât had a dog of my own in quite a while. I had finally decided to get me another little blue heeler puppy, and I have one on hold from the newest litter. But Iâm thinking now that, financially speaking, I may need to put this off. There will be other litters, but Iâm still just a little disappointed.
