We even have chile rellenos in Linden! Making them out of Opossum tails does not count. We have more beef and chicken than there are trucks to haul away!

I have seen more armadillo roadkill in Cass County than anywhere else in my life. I'm sure we've both eaten it at restaurants at some point.

I would be surprised if a restaurant operator was to use road kill. The liability has severe consequences. I used local elk, killed by visiting hunters in my restaurant. Elk Stroganoff is mighty tasty in cold Fall weather. I knew where the elk were taken. A local guy has a meat cutting set up and knows what he is doing. It seemed safe enough. Certainly illegal as can be. Road Kill is a whole other matter. Then again, who knows what went into that sausage? ?

We haven't seen a live armadillo. I did find an empty shell of a small one in the yard. Figured Bigfoot had a snack with him and threw the "wrapper" in our yard. 😉

Good to know that no one's going hungry. Was going to be steaks, but it'll be leftover spaghetti and meatballs. Cleaning out the fridge. Making room for salmon that I'm gonna cure and smoke. It'll be my first attempt.

Cold poached salmon in the summer time is just about as good as it can get.

Homemade egg salad, and chicken salad on sandwich rolls, plus iced tea...I'm home alone but my wife's baby sister eats here every night when she comes to pick up her dog. I feed the dogs at 4:30 and the humans eat at 6:00. too hot to cook, so cold plates will work fine...perhaps a crock-pot meal tomorrow, and some fancy grill work on the weekend.

How do you serve it? The whole fish is laid out a platter garnished with parsley and cucumber slices. People serve themselves with a pie slicer. Cold sauces are provided: Mayonnaise with cucumber, a light mustard sauce, Cilantro dill sauce.

Double cheese burgers from the local soda fountain... but I am p o'd as usual with restaurants lately. They never seem to get an order correct. I very specifically asked for no condiments on my burgers, I get home mouth salivating with anticipation. Open up my familiar burger wrapping, pull out my burger and what do I find? Ketchup. Ketchup on my burger. Ugh! So I wonder around the house for a couple of seconds bitching to myself and finally sit down and eat my hard earned income in the form of detested protein molecules. I mean what am I expected to do? Stand at the counter and open every single item and rummage through all the products to determine if someone I paid to provide a service provided that service. Ugh!

I once returned home , with food from McDonald's , and sat down to empty rolls...no protein molecules whatsoever!!!

One thing I will NOT be eating are the Chile Rellenos from Hatch Green Chile Company. Arrived today, all 12 pounds of Dry ICe gone to vapor. The Instant Read Thermometer I stuck into the thawed rellenos read 84 degrees! Food safety demands disposal of contents. Good by to many pounds of Chile Rellenos!
No thanks to Fed Ex who need not be in the frozen food chain of delivery.
No refund. They want to send me another box. Good luck, folks!
