Hmmmm. I drink mostly Islay scotch. Other than blends, I don't think that I have tried a Highland scotch.

I usually buy Laphroaig and Ardbeg Uigeadail. The latter is especially good while reading the Mythos.

I have a lifetime supply of liquor, 5 fifths of single malt, and plenty of bourbon. Highland Park was super premium even at Specs. I may look for a pint of Johnny Walker Green because it's been 50 years since I had it. I will probably end up pouring some liquor down the drain just to make room for what I have left.

Ham and eggs. Over Easy. Country Ham, simmered with sliced orange and cloves, then fried with the eggs in clarified butter.
The ham was less salty and fork tender, so good.

We bought a country ham years ago and found that it needed to be soaked or boiled to eat it. It was a Smithfield back before the Chinese bought them.

We bought a country ham years ago and found that it needed to be soaked or boiled to eat it. It was a Smithfield back before the Chinese bought them. I would not buy a Smithfield Ham. Not because of the Chinese but the salt level. Those hams are inedible without simmering or boiling. Tennessee Country Hams, I have had, are less salty and more flavorful by far. I recommend these guys. Nice people, excellent product, reasonable price. www.countryhams.com/Tripps Hams can be eaten sliced off the bone. They can go straight into the fry pan. I like to simmer slices more as they become more tender for me chewing capability and even less salt for my BP. They loose no flavor from cooking. I keep one hanging in a muslin sack on the back porch. It is wrapped in plastic just to keep it from loosing more moisture.

I haven't tried Glenmorangie as far as I can recall. The Macallan left me very unimpressed.

Meatloaf, creamed potatoes and pinto beans at the Cass County Seat Cafe. Strawberry cake for dessert. Sounds like you have found several good places to eat, Ronv69. I miss Texas the most because of the great eating places in most cities and great BBQ in smaller towns. My favorite was/is Rudys BBQ outside San Antonio. Hope to get back to Texas with my wife before we pass on...just waiting for the virus to wane a bit.

When we moved up here there were a bunch of restaurants that had recently closed. We have 2 restaurants on the Square downtown and we have to go 15 miles for anything else. Of course with no traffic it's not bad.

My own version of "Shake 'n Bake" chicken with instant mash potatoes, made my way with chicken stock, milk and butter. Red cabbage sautéed in clarified butter with sweet rice vinegar and a lot of fresh ground black pepper. On the whole, damn good.
