Had lunch at Panera Bread - an almond chicken salad sandwich. Never cared for the food there. This visit didn't change my mind. The only thing I like from there is their Mediterranean sandwich. And sometimes the soup. The only thing of theirs I've liked was a Lobster Bisque - and I bought it at a Schuck's grocery store. I baked and shredded a couple lobster tails, sautéed some sliced mushrooms, added them and some herbs to the bisque and served it over black linguini. I was trying to copy a popular entrée at an local Italian restaurant. It wasn't an exact copy - but it might have actually been better.

Paradise bakery around here was absorbed by Panera...we never eat there now. No smoking near the Panera tables, so I went out to the lamppost, and a busybody complained and the apron skirted waiter came out and told me to cease and desist....never went back. When it was Paradise bakery, they let me smoke at the outdoor tables. Monty: That looks tasty!^

I picked up a package of 4 a week ago - at Sam's Club - Angus. Last couple of times they were $40. This time $53. Don't know the exact weights involved, but it's clear the price is going up. The "Angus" label in and of itself doesn't mean much in regards to top shelf meats. In the past I have gotten some good stuf, other times...meh! www.certifiedangusbeef.com/brand/best-angus-beef.phpI have gotten certified Angus at Costco and Kroger stores when it has been a buyers market, when it isn't, most of it is destined to restaurant suppliers. Thanks for the info. The fillets I bought previously this year my well have been the "Certified Angus Beef". They were consistently the best steaks I've ever made! This latest, more expensive package, had a different label that just said "Angus". I noticed it right off - and decided to chance it. When I was a kid, my family would raise a Black Angus calf, then butcher it. Did Black Angus a couple of times. Once a "White Faced Heifer". Always good eating. Remember the Angus being better. They grazed on what was there (grass and such) during the day, but daily they were fed a several scoops of a bagged grain for calves (various grains and vitamins .....). Good meat. Always had a freezer full.

Oops, looks like they don't have it anymore.☹️

A bowl of lentil vegetable soup, home made.
Roasted and grilled a Tomahawk which I hope to enjoy tomorrow. I had a shaving off the top for lunch with a baked potato for lunch. My birthday tomorrow, you know, so something special. Big 70!

Chicken Fried Rice and egg rolls. And a white wine that was really good a couple years ago - but not anymore.
I make so much wine, that my store bought wine doesn't get drank fast enough.

Walks/ WAYS done. Around brunch time when always hurtin' wifie shows up, same 'ol on Sunday 4 eggs, mangled ham slices in "griddle" part of Geo.Foreman grill. Dump on plates, add sharp shred cheddar & nuke (about 1:20 mins). Drinks also the usual, both k-cup. Her decaf, me cocoa. Should last till mid-afternoon or so
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY still relatively simple eats even on Sunday

Made a couple 9 inch deep dish chicken pot pies from a rotisserie chicken bought at Costco. Still have plenty of chicken for chicken salad...they sure sell meaty birds cheaper than what you can buy raw. It is always a no brainer to pick one up.

I like KFC pot pies, but homemade leaves it in the dust.
