Looked up Mrs. Rios kitchen on Google maps, the food sure looks scrumptious. My grandma I am told was from Chama, really close by! Chama, Colorado? Or, Chama, New Mexico? Chama, Colorado is a big deal. That means you "IN" here. If you come this way and encounter locals, make sure that fact is brought out. Your status is elevated. I always assumed it was Chama NM, because I was familiar with that town, but called my aunt and my grandmother is from Chama CO.

I am with you there Mike and millions agree! One only needs to look at what is left on the fresh veggie tray at gatherings. We had the 10 oz. frozen Green Giant simply steam...cut a slit and into the microwave for 6 minutes. Portioned perfectly for two of us. Never seen that one. Used to love the one they had in a boiling bag Years ago.

This one is quicker than boiling, and probably about the same. They specifically tell you not to boil the bag. That cheese is like napalm though!

Chama, CO is a beautiful and very remote place. One of the oldest settlements in Colorado. the town of San Luis being the oldest. You likely still have family here.

Had the best bowl of gumbo I've had in years today at the Blue Water Bayou restaurant in Texarkana today. Andouie, crab leg and claw meat, chicken and roast pork. It was $18.95/bowl, but worth it.

The way I understand it my grandmother and her mom were Native American refugees, but she did not know what tribe she belonged to. The Catholic Church took them in and gave her the name of Chavez, Roybal Chavez as I recollect.

These health food nuts can come up with some kind of stuff! I added a Sockeye Salmon filet for both of us. Sautéed in clarified butter with lemon drizzle.

Ditto, Apache from the west. Odds are, Ute Nation.

all usuals done, to be Schwan #662 (2) toaster waffles, one cycle. Add usuals, nuke to plateful of mess. We have plenty of food on hand, no problem IF the xpected blizzard hits us. Shouldn't be problem as we're on a well plowed & salted state hi-way in the middle of town, much truck traffic, some tour buses.

Snacked on some salami and cheese. Always satisfying. Sadly, I have to limit my salami intake. Age and digestion.

Mrs Rayne made them. They aren't like regular steakfingers. Think of a medium chicken fried steak cut into 2 pieces.

Gotta boil them suckers overnight. Scratch-made Jello? or glue? Depends on how much fruit juice you put in.
