I have to head off to Utah, and Colorado on Tuesday, wish I could have departed today and been home by Tuesday...it looks like it will be snowing the entire trip.

Think I mentioned a week or so ago my brother tested positive for COVID a couple days after we all spent the weekend together for family Xmas. Now Mom and one of my nephews have it. One of these things bears more watching than the other, obviously. Her symptoms are pretty minor right now. Hopefully, it stays that way.
Still no sign of it here.

Hope mom can ride it out without symptoms getting worse. Best wishes for both of them. Been a week for you, now. It might have missed you.

I just looked over my metrics for my run over the next three days. 29 hours driving, 3.75 hours with patients…6 hours to my first patient up in Mexican water, Az., on to Blanding and Monticello Utah, Cortez Co. on Wednesday… not sure where I will lay down that night, Chinle Az. Or Gallup NM…. we sure serve a rural group.

“ Not so sure about time-of-year though.”
I think that in anticipation of the weather we should bulk up the patient’s orders on dialysis to carry them through the winter months. The stuff has a 3 year shelf life…But… they are on a 30 day prescription so I am not sure that is possible.

I'm headed to my doctor's office this afternoon with a sore throat, mucus drainage, and general cold symptoms. When I called for the appointment, they told me to stay in my car and call them when I get to the office; someone will accompany me in the back way. It was then I looked up the symptoms for the Omicron Covid variant. That's right, sore throat, runny nose, headache, and cold-like symptoms. I'm convinced it is simply a cold that I picked up from my 11 month old granddaughter at Christmas, but now I'm wondering. The bad part, Covid aside, is that if I have to isolate, I don't feel like smoking a pipe right now. Crazy times for sure.

I am sure you have 4 wheel drive on that truck. You only need the chains if the snow turns to ice. If you have good tires with lots of thread still on them you shouldn't need chains. In my experience the 4 wheel drive did the job every time. I also preferred Dunlop and then Michelin for truck tires.
I got covid 2 weeks after I got the J&J vaccine. Neither my son nor my in home care taker got it and we were all in the same place with masks on. I basically slept for 2 weeks. I awoke from the haze loaded a pipe and I was good to go. Back to my 4-6 bowls a day/

You will have to isolate for a bit, though. Think of it as a break from social responsibilities.

Thanks for the good wishes. My doc said there was really no reason to test for Covid. I’m vaccinated twice plus the booster plus the flu shot. If I have it, which he doubts, it shouldn’t amount to much. He did test me for strep, that returned negative. He put me on a course of antibiotic for ten days, so I should be good to go; along with ibuprofen, salt water rinses, and hot toddies of course.

Every time I see my lone tin of Klondike Gold, I wish I had taken your advice and stocked up… sitting on that tin! Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Kelly! I hit some really nast weather going into Flagstaff this morning, icy roads and wipers icing up badly. Most of the day was in the sunlight in the Navajo nation, cold but clear. Rolled into Utah, instantly turned nasty, checked int a hotel. Headed to Cortez tomorrow, it is snowing all night, the roads are going to be icy in the morning… going to finish asap tomorrow and head south to Gallup.

Do chains work on the ice? I guess they might on a vehicle that heavy.

Yes they do.
I drive a 10 wheeler, 46,000 GVWR.
When my brother worked for the same company in Montana he had spider chains… I wish I did.
