As I posted again in the wrong thread... I also could not resist this County 4120 (2019) that I have been drooling on for the last 3 months or so, so I grabbed it before it goes. Great blast! Iām surprised that stayed in stock somewhere for three months.

Bijou is great stuff but get at least a year of age on it. Bijou and GLP Embarcadero have taken the sting out of not being able to get McC #24 anymore. Also, C&D Interlude is basically Bijou without the Katerini.

Alright. This is your fault, Lawitzke. If the Patch ever has a real-life meet-up, I'm taking it out of your arse: Man- a Patch real-life meet-up would be a hoot!

I could have bought 4 or 5 Dunhill's, but I went with a Husqvarna TS-348-XD instead. The one with the Kawasaki V-twin and locking differential.

thanks for the input. I was thinking try one to see if I like it at all, and if so put up some more tins long term. Thoughts? I think it's almost always wise to try something before you cellar a bunch of it. You can still dump the rest of the opened tin in a Mason jar and cellar it, too. You may not necessarily like the unaged tobacco, but you can at least get a sense of what it is and whether it's something you'd ever like.

It saw its opportunity, and targeted my checkbook. Upshall is like Charatan and Barling and Ferndown: had my eye out for a good while. The one above - once Enablawitzke pointed it out -- just suited me. Still haven't found the right sample of the others.

Nice! I believe you like those checkered finishes. Yeah, something about some of the carved pipes from the heyday of the American pipemaking industry. The modern Checkers look even better, in my opinion. And they're full-size pipes, unlike a lot from back in the day.

Still haven't found the right sample of the others. Right now, I'm focusing on inexpensive , restorable pipes. Something to get me through the winter. Already did a bunch of them. Looking for a few more lots. No idea what I'll do with them all. I've got pipes already done for my son, son-in-law and brother -in-law (and a few for me). As for higher grade pipes, I would like at least one example of the major English pipemakers. Keeping an eye out for BBB, Barling, Comoy's, a few others. No hurry to buy anything now. I've got to keep my wife from thinking I've gone off the deep end.

Ha.
I'm trying to do much the same thing. All the sort of old-line, traditional makers from France and England. I've got my BBB and Comoy's covered, and love both of them. The latter is one of the most comfortable smokers I own, in fact.
I started to say you have more time to work on pipes than I do, but you seem to keep pretty busy for an old retired fart.

I like to have something to do. I can't sit in front of the TV all day. I wouldn't be happy, nor would my wife. I tried my hand at refinishing a couple pipes last summer and the results were horrible. I went back and sanded them to bare wood and this time they turned out much nicer. I thought that it would be a good way to spend those winter days when I don't want to be outdoors. And it's relatively inexpensive, so long as I don't get caught up in the bidding frenzy. I happen to like the American heritage (drugstore) brands, and, of course, corncobs. That said, I do want another Dunnie, another Upshall, the right Charatan...

Not a bad strategy Pete and Urb, the old English factory pipes can really deliver the goods. It is rare that I have had a disappointing estate pipe from back in the day, a lone GBD that is a gurgler is the only one that I can think of, and I sold it on Ebay for what I paid. Keep an eye out on Offer up, Facebook marketplace, Craigslist locally...it takes some patience, but sometimes things come your way. Found these on offer up. thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/4475/diamonds-rough-time-tellthebriarpatchforum.com/thread/1845/latest-haulA local audience for ads, is far more rewarding than a global audience when you are the shopper.

So I'm taking Ron at his word about the superiority of the Deluxe System. I ordered this 5s Natural. And also this Walnut Spigot 150 because it looks great. If they don't work for me, I guess I'll put them up for sale on the forum. A no brainer, really. That's a beauty! I have 3 sizes in the Peterson Calabash that I haven't located yet. All great pipes, but none of them are Deluxe Systems. I only have one of those. I also have a 150,but it's the Racing Green, not a spigot. If you don't like it I'll be glad to repeat our last deal. ššš¤ Thanks, Ron. And noted. I knew I could count on you.

Whether it's called a Cherrywood or Poker, I love the shape and this is a beautiful example. Congrats! Thanks, Pete. Dunhill defines this shape as a Cherrywood as it has the forward canted stummel and is a bent.

Congrats! Thanks, Urb. I really hope I will take a fancy to both of them.
