Sorry to hear that buddy. Duke got released today, back to his vet in 3 days, possible he has the onset of kidney issues, nothing conclusive… at least he is back home and out of billfold hell. Glad to hear he's home with his family.

Good that he is back home with his hoomans. I also have kidney disease so I am wondering if the Vet suggested modifying Duke's diet? Kind of important with human kidney problems. Would it not also be for dogs? BTW, I still raise my leg to pee. No squatting.

I’m glad Duke is back with his family. I’m a cynic, of course, but I suspect the vet has attended those “Profitable Practice” seminars at vet conferences. Maybe more than one or two. Ignore me. But bless you for taking such good care of the guy. I don’t doubt that one bit. We had the family discussion about going forward from here, we love our dog, but with hindsight I wish we had waited till Monday to take him to the vet… they may have well told us to take him to the animal clinic, but all the tests at the hospital would have been cheaper at the vet. From here on out, yearly blood labs for Duke at the vet, and let them handle it. It is like the difference of an office visit versus the emergency room. Oh, sorry. I didn’t understand that is was the “hospital.” They are ALWAYS super-expensive. Maybe I libeled your vet.

Blast from the past, the day (1-1/2 years ago) that Eli discovered he could see inside better if he ripped out the stormdoor screen…

I am tired of the illnesses that run up the debt, and only after maxing out the threshold of what I am willing to bear, miraculous recoveries take place. Duke e has eaten Blue Buffalo weight management for the last year or so...not like he is getting Ol' Roy.

Tried a new groomer for our pup today. The groomer was supposed to be by yesterday. She has her grooming business set up in a trailer so she can bring it right to peoples homes - but her generator was acting up, so she cancelled. Took Tiffany to the groomers home today and we were very happy with the results. With the cost of gas and the generator problems, the groomer said she is probably going to stop the home service.

No, it was one of the times I was visiting my daughter in McKinney several years ago. Spent some time in San Antonio a couple years ago. Much better weather then. That had to be a record for Mckinney! It was around 2000. My wife says I mis-remembered. She thinks it was around 105⁰F.I know it isn't like that all the time. We've talked about moving there, the temperature is a minor issue. My wife just won't leave our 3 kids here in our home town. I've heard before that Huskies don't like the heat and I can see why - but I thought they were more closely related to wolves than most dogs. And I'm sure they have at least a few wolves in Texas. Or do they?

Or do they? I think that there are some Mexican wolves in Big Bend, but other than that, no. A few people raise wolf/dog mixes as pets.

There probably at least used to be red wolves in Texas. They don't have that thick, heavy coat like the northern wolves (and dog breeds).
