We have a zero tolerance policy for home deliveries with loose critters, we have dealt with dogs, cats, pigs, goats… etc…
But the company buys us beggin strips and Old Roy chewbones.
I ask the patient if it is ok to give the dogs treats as they are either in the back yard, a kennel, or behind a gate.
Upon arriving, I give them treats, it really cuts down on the barking.
Dogs are easy to bribe. 😉

Indeed, that is a long run, and I am sure the loss to your father is there...him and your mom had to have a lot of good times with Wendy.

Sorry to hear it, Mike. 16 is quite a good run for a dog, yeah. I don't remember the pic. What kind of dog was she?

this is from jan. Cute pup. The one squinty eye kinda makes her look like she might be a pirate.

Speaking of pups, Molly just paid me a visit. It's been very wet for several days, so I haven't come out to play with her. I figured since she caught me out on the patio this time, I'd better say hi, despite the wet and dark.

Molly just came woofing at the gate as I sit out here on the patio with my pipe. Been raining all day, though, so I told her it was too wet and to go home. She woofed just a little bit longer, then went home. She's learning.

I don’t want Eli associating “visitors” with food. He gets his food from me, and no one else. Snacks, too.

I don’t want Eli associating “visitors” with food. He gets his food from me, and no one else. Snacks, too. That is really a smart way to approach it...totally get it. Whether you live in an urban environment or remotely, you should not ascribe familiarity to your sentry, and you are wise to approach it in that manner. But then again, you are a sheepdog Bob...not a sheep. You are a rare breed. Most patients I call upon are sheep and I do not mean that derogatively, quite the opposite, they are good people, but Lt. Col. Grossman explains it better than I could: www.theexpositor.tv/blog/sheep-wolves-and-sheepdogs-lt-col-dave-grossman/

Another play session with the Molly dog. She's really grown over the past month. Looking a lot more like a dog now and less like an adolescent puppy.
