The hell with that old crone. Will Rogers said βIf there are no dogs in heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.β When Jack passes God help the SOB that βconsolesβ me with the comment that he was only a dog.Yeah...I would walk away rather than setting them straight...they wouldn't like my language.

If I know that someone doesn't like dogs I have trouble warming up to them. I see it as a flaw in their character. Harsh, perhaps. But I see that judgment confirmed in other traits. I have no close friends who aren't, even perhaps in s small way, dog people.

We have cats. 2 Siamese cats. Truth is, Siamese cats? They are dogs in a cat's body. They lie down at my feet, in the morning while I drink my first coffee, patiently waiting for me to take out the toys. I put a blanket on the floor, under my study's table and they lie down on it. When they hear the sound of the harnesses' bells, they come running because they know it's walk time. So, we walk them. They travel with us (car, boat, plane). In the car, they look out the rear windows, each on their side with their tails slowly wagging. I do admit: they look just like cats. But cats they are not! Would that count, here, as dogs? Of note, we don't have dogs but we love them.

But cats definitely can't go to heaven.

I know there's a cat or two in Heaven. I had a huge black lab/ coon hound mix ,as a youngster, and his best pal was a male cat named Thomas. they shared food and water, and when Thomas stayed out too late at night , he'd curl up with Blackie ,in the doghouse. One cold ,cold morning we found Thomas in the doghouse next to Blackie; he'd been run over ,and drug himself home to die beside his friend, both back legs broken and useless...I swear ,that big old dog cried as hard as we did.

Years ago, my wife and I were in a Financial trail in New Orleans, bad guys had mismanaged our retirement fund to a 1/3 of what we had. We went back and forth to New Orleans, boarding Ki my Catahoula with a young couple who had a kennel and Ki loved going there. When I would go get him the joy of him seeing us was something else. Back on the property we lived in our Motorhome, he would lick me like you lick ice cream, I would lay down on the carpet and he would lay down, his heart beating like a drum, finally his heart would slowly slow down, no one ,my wife, parents, children, were ever glad to see me as him, he passed away with cancer years later, he broke my heart.

More file-combing. Found this. A few years back, when Jack was about two, and the Boston was still with us. They loved to play frisbee and would compete to see who could get to it first. Jack would face me. When I tossed it he would jump, head high on me, and then turn himself in mid-air to face the frisbee and then go after it. Mags would always have a head start, but he would usually beat her to it. Not always, but then they would have a tug of war! Sorry about the orientation. Itβs on its side, obviously.

Should have pointed out, for clarity, that the top of his head in the pic is about 4-1/2 feet off the ground. He has just completed his 180Β° mid-air turn and is coming down. He would do that all day if I played along. (I didnβt.) Silly dog.

People not caring for dogs or cats are likely narcissistic sociopaths having no time for anything but themselves. Not the kind I want to associate with.

"And if dogs do not like someone, take note."
How true. They always seem to know. The best judges I have known among dogs are Rottweilers. They check you out, thoroughly. And if a Rottweiler then comes over, maybe brushes against you, and lets you pet himβ you are in. If he lies down at a distance and keeps his eyes on you, you haven't made it yet. And maybe won't. I may have mentioned it before, i passing, but my ex is alive today, I'm sure, because of Vito, our Rottie. And the guy he "judged," so correctly, is still on death row, years later. I just hope the bastard has nightmares, every night, about Vito and his eyes on him, never blinking.

Reading the recent comments it does not surprise me why I like dogs and cats more than humans.

This is a recent photo of them, about a year old. They are now almost 12 YO. They are siblings, by the way. Their mother is an Apple Head Chocolate Point and their father, a Chocolate Lynx Point.

Oh, yeah...reminds me of when living in Miami, a good friend had 3 Rotties living in the home/yard...someone made the mistake of coming over the 10 ft. wall... they left their left arm. I'm sure it was a learning experience for them.
