The sheer deviousness of dogs is often overlooked as a species characteristic. It is, and they are.

My son adopted a pup about 6 weeks ago and found out that his job is sending him to Germany for three months in about a week. He and his wife visited for Easter and dropped off Ace for us to dog sit while they are gone. We think he is a Lab/Shepard mix, is cute and smart as hell and a pain in the azz. I forgot what it was like to have a high energy puppy in the house... This is my life now. Ha! Haha. I like how, at about 20 seconds, Ace goes for the old "Hey, what's that over there?" trick. At 15 seconds, to be more precise.

It has been animal awareness month at work. We have had 5 employees bitten in the last 6 months, 4 of the 5 either happened after the driver had already visited the house before with no signs of aggression, or the patient said "The dog has never attacked anyone". Weird how some people think that restraining animals is some sort of cruelty...not most, but some. This is exactly why I have always monitored and managed even my most trusted dogs around anyone they don't normally interact with. You just never know, and I don't want someone injured, nor do I want the headache that comes with it. (Been there sadly, but that is another story) Generally, I will put the dogs away without being asked unless the person coming in specifically asks me not to. Even then, certain furry family members get hands-on supervision just to be safe. Rescues are awesome dogs, but they do often come with baggage! Anyone who won't follow that rule of your company is just foolish.

No, Dogs of every breed and residence. Going forward, if people cannot put the dogs in the back yard, put them in a room or crate, no supplies get delivered. It really is their choice. Not just dogs though, any animals. But one employee was on the res, not the patients dog but the neighbors, he went through the rabies treatment. Being a sovereign nation, nothing happens to the dogs. Sounds like an argument for "Hazardous Duty Pay"?

Putting the dogs away is just common decency and good manners. I have visitors that my dogs know and enjoy. If the visitor is OK with it I let them stay out and take pleasure in the visit. My trust in my dogs runs very deep and they have proved to be worthy of it. But still, dogs are dogs, and I don’t take chances with someone they don’t know, especially if I sense fear in the visitor. Even the best and friendliest of dogs might have an adverse reaction to sensing fear in a stranger and having the stranger close to you. Not so much with GSPs but a bad combo with a dog like a Rottie. Best to be safe. Adui, above, sets out a very responsible and intelligent way to handle it. Admirable.

Right, I always , always put my dogs up. Common sense, one time I didn’t, I walked in on a man talking to my wife from his truck, his thing is he was inquiring on the little Jo boat in the field, not for sale Dad had it built, anyway Buddy started growling at him while he was in the truck, told him hit the road, my dog is good judge of character, told wife you’re too friendly .

I believe the color is called ‘merle.’ When I had Danes in the 60s merles were not recognized and could not be registered with the AKC. The merle gene predisposes the dog to deafness, blindness, and sterility. Most breeders euthanised merle pups. I have seen enough merle Danes in the last few years to think they’re not doing that anymore.

They called them "Parti-Poodles" and if you owned one people gave you grief. Then they found out that most people didn't care and would pay money for a great pet. We have made some progress.

Yep they used to kill White Catahoulas, Ki my first one was my wife’s pick, best dog we ever had, cancer got him. Breeder didn’t want to sell him to me, told him that’s my wife’s pick, I’ll deal with his shortfalls, there were none.
