We fostered a pure white Great Dane last year that was deaf and got him a good home. They were going to euthanize him as well. Now he's 220 lbs and pure love.

My heart broke when we lost him! Sorry for your loss. That's a sharp dog! Was he a pointer? Did he run away or pass away?

Here's my two dogs from a couple of years ago. Lost the one on the left to bone cancer in December of 2021. Had to put him down because of the pain he was in. The one on the right is half boxer, half border collie and she is a high-energy dog!

110 lb Catahoula, just a regal looking animal!

Yep they used to kill White Catahoulas, Ki my first one was my wife’s pick, best dog we ever had, cancer got him. Breeder didn’t want to sell him to me, told him that’s my wife’s pick, I’ll deal with his shortfalls, there were none. Same with white German Shepherds. I think that Jack Lalanne helped change that. He was often photographed with his two Shepherds, one solid white and one solid black.

Yes people are a pain, my neighbor down the road has a fixation on my wife, stops by every once in a while, wife thinks he’s funny and doesn’t want to hurt his feelings, his fixation is money , he ralks about his 90;000$ dollar truck, his wife’s Geniuss Q90 car, it’s really embarrassing to hear that💩: Not bragging but I’m finaceslly better off than him, we drive old cars, own everything we got. I help some neighbors out during floods, medical crisis, that’s what it’s all about. Material things go Character does not!

Eli is a bandit, and as devious as a Democrat. One of his bad habits is to take food off the counters in the kitchen, or even off the stove. Butter and skillet grease are his faves. If I put his training collar on him he is good as gold— UNTIL I leave the room or go somewhere I can’t see him. The collar is excellent for stopping such behavior, as well as digging and fence climbing. But you have to know WHEN they do it! This morning I had some grease in a skillet. He loves this, but as I sat in the kitchen dinette he wouldn’t go near it. My watch mirrors the camera on my phone, so I set the camera to cover the stove and then went in the bathroom and closed the door. Instantly he was on his hind legs addressing the skillet. Busted! One zap was all it took. Now we have to wait to see if the lesson will last. I’m betting it will take a repeat.

Of course all my big dogs were outside dogs so they never got a chance.

To say I was not happy with him is an understatement. He slid right under my arm whilst I was chatting away at the dinner table. By the time I caught him the steak was in his mouth and he was retreating.

Lacy found a hole in the fence and got into the cow pasture behind us. She was trying to chase the cows, but they wouldn't run. She was barking her head off 6 inches from the cow's nose. The cow just ignored her and kept on munching grass. Wife was freaking out trying to get her back.

I lived with a Malamute Dog for many years. She learned to mind her manners. A neighbor of mine has two wolf/Malamute crosses. Much wolf, little dog. At dinner their table years ago, I fed the female meat from my plate by hand. The owners were not comfortable with this at first. Then they saw, as I knew, she was gentle and delicate in taking the meat pieces from my hand. These are very smart animals and sensitive to human interactions if we are sensitive with them. The Alaskan Malamute is my favorite canine companion. No better pal. Too much to handle if keeping livestock however.

We had a pure bred malamute growing up and she was one of the best dogs I've ever had the privilege to know. When as an adult my young family got the mal / wolf as 9week old pup we didn't know he was part wolf. I'd not change a thing though because he was hands down the best, most intelligent dog I've ever owned. A character like no other dog I've ever met. Our's growing up was raised with livestock so she behaved. Mine as an adult never got the chance to be around livestock, but my guess is smaller things like chickens would have been a problem for him. I miss my boy!

My Malamute dog loved horses and moved into the barn where they being kept. Smaller critters were just too tempting for her. Strong predator instinct.

If I know anything about dogs it’s that each and every one is an individual. Though sharing certain breed characteristic, they are all “their own doggo.” Not one of my dogs has been “like” any other.

Our Great Dane, Henry, had another seizure last night around midnight. We're going to up his CBD dose and hope it helps. If we can avoid drugs like Phenobarbital it would be best.

So sorry your pup is going through that. Yes please avoid the harder drugs. We had a husky briefly that suffered seizures badly. They had her on the Phenobarbital at such a high dose she just lay around all day. Poor thing was always too doped up to enjoy life.

Best to Henry. (That’s a lot of dog to be having a seizure.) Yeah, when 120 lbs of muscle all spasms at once it's a scary thing. The first time, we freaked out but have learned to stay calm and reassuring during his episodes.
