And why are billiards just billiards, regardless of tapered or saddle stem? The only time they get a new name is if the bowl than taller than the norm. Then its a chimney or a stack. My head is starting to hurt.

I think there actually is a semi-official definition of a billiard, and it involves 1:1 proportions between bowl height and shank length. They're not all exactly 1:1, but that's like the AKC standard or whatever.

While pondering the names of pipe shapes, I've just lit a bowl of Rouxgaroux in this Medico Premier. Is it a Dublin, Yachtsman, Fred?

I'm cool with "Fred" too. We've got a piece of software that the marketing geniuses couldn't decide what to call. They changed it so many times, I just call it "Henry."

I was just referring to their charts. And the oval shank/tapered stem = Canadian, oval shank/saddle stem = Lumberman, round shank/saddle stem = Lovat and round shank/tapered stem = Liverpool. I wasn't aware that proportions also factor in. It gets pretty convoluted, Dunhill seemed to be the most standardized maker. So, I guess I have to retract my earlier assessment. I don't even try to understand how every tapered bowl in Italy can get classified as a Dublin. These are correct. Only thing I'd add is that lovat/Liverpool have longer, round shanks and the lovat is a short saddlebit. The Liverpool a short tapered stem. Canadian and Lumberman also have longer shanks than stems, and have oval shanks.
I'm starting out my Veteran's Day morning with a little heel of Carolina Red Flake w/ Perique, and quickly moving onto some Sutliff Crumble Kake VA Perique in a Roswitha Anderson sandblasted apple knockabout yard pipe.

Picked up sampler of Peretti's non aromatic burly's. Starting the morning off with some of their No. 52 in a new Morgan bones pipe. I am really enjoying this blend. It has great burly flavor with a hint of a floral note.

Storm Front in a Dr Grabow freehand...Sending up some smoke and thinking of "Sarge" Robbie Robinson, now long passed, he was an old Navy man, and a Veteran of WW2, also my next-door neighbor at my first house. He used to stand at the end of his driveway ,smoking Half & Half in a long stemmed " Old Henery " pipe , looking for all the world like General Mcauther. A one brand kinda guy, with three pipes at the most, he's one of the first people I think of as an early mentor, with his dark glasses an officers cap, surveying the world from the end of his driveway. I miss those calm days, leaning on our fence , hearing his stories and catching the aroma of that Half & Half.

C&D/Warped Cloud Hopper in an MM Dagner Pipes Design poker cob.
This is without a doubt one of the most unique, nuanced, complex, unlike anything else I've smoked in the last few years. It's a broken flake of AA grade Dominican Criollo cigar leaf, red and bright VA, Italian air cured leaf, and a decent dash of Perique. The smell from the tin at first is a funky BO-ridden armpit, dashed with earthiness, cinnamon/baking spices, Perique, and sweet Virginia tones. It's musty, it's funky, and when smoked it's like a sweet and spicy high grade cigar. Not just a dash of cigar, either. This is like smoking a cigar right in your pipe. 10/10 highly recommended.
