This is the song that DNA remixed and really made Suzanne Vega blow up .

Speaking of those random associations, some strange jolt listening to Suzanne Vega reminded me of Kylie Minogue, and specifically Come Into My World, which is a Michel Gondry directed music video. This made me think of Bjork's Michel Gondry directed video, and then the Chemical Brothers - Star Guitar & Let Forever Be. Michel Gondry's videos to this day are the best.
It seems Bjork has taken down the original Gondry music video she had up, but it's shown within this higher quality rip. Human Behavior, and Army of Me were also Gondry directed.

Suzy Vega still gets some airplay at my house. It must be a Northeast thing, but she was played on the folkie station fairly regularly in 80s, 90s. And yes, "Luka" was huge on more mainstream stations.

I got a call a few days ago from a buddy that had a couple tickets he gifted me to see Michael Martin Murphey, Great concert, best when watched with my bride. The concert was interspersed with his philosophical outlook.. not preachy or political, but one anyone can identify with that looks to God for guidance, love of country, and rights of landowners, farmers and ranchers. He has worked tirelessly in that regard.
He has a lead guitarist, very beautiful young woman that is a great guitarist and vocalist, and phenomenal at yodeling.
The show closed with their cover of EL Paso and Big Iron… I never knew that Marty Robbins (grandfather or father) was a Texas Ranger, later an Arizona Ranger.
The Zmed brothers opened the show as a tribute band covering mostly Everly Brothers, they shared some history of the duo that was interesting.
Their dad is actor Adrian Zmed who starred in Grease! (Danny Zuco?) and later as a cop on TJ Hooker.
A great show and worth seeing,( they played for 4 hours) if he comes to a town near you.

We haven't seen MMM since 78. Good to know that he's still doing shows.

We haven't seen MMM since 78. Good to know that he's still doing shows. He is obviously getting up in age, there were three or four times he had to tell the sound crew to turn up his volume as he could not hear his guitar, issues with the earpiece. Guessing he is experiencing some hearing loss, but I think it is more on the local sound crew at that venue. Not the first time I have seen it there, Alan Parsons was about ready to kill the local crew at one show there. Regardless….MMM sounded great!

We saw him every time we could when we were just married. Probably 3 times.

I'd argue there's not a better opening phrase to a song than that performed by Ms. London, here. There may be some as good, but I don't think this can be topped -- tonally, rhythmically, timbrally, lyrically. In five sung words, you understand everything this song has to say, and why it's being said.

I had no idea she achieved popularity. I just knew her from living in NYC in the mid '80s. Popular then and there. I never hear her songs on our local "Alternative" radio station or the NPR affiliate which normally plays that kind of music. That someone would make a joke out of the song "Luka" is disgraceful. People just got sick of hearing radio stations play it every 20 minutes. It was her one big hit. I missed all that.

I used to walk through the alleys in Austin, in 1970 and 71, then again in the last 6 years before I retired. The town always leaned communist because of the influence of the University of Texas, but in the past 5 years it's really gone down the tubes for walking downtown at night.

Trampled by Turtles. I took my nephew to a music festival where these guys played a set. He was not impressed; I had a s++t-kickin' good time.

Communist. Because education. K. It's not because of education, but because of the policies of UT for the last 70 years. Come on, you know better than that.
