We picked up some fried chicken and I went crazy on it for lunch, so probably little or no supper tonight. Sometimes I buy it at the grocery store, the deli is in the first isle. So I walk around the store to finish shopping & every once in a while wonder what is smelling so good & following me. Old fart brain.

Hard to resist, eh? Fried and rotisserie chicken are loss leaders in a lot of stores, and they often do it quite well...often cheaper than raw chicken. it really becomes a no brainer to pick it up. Tip: fried chicken sandwiches are great....I discovered fried chicken sandwiches at the now Defunct K&S grocery store in Hollister California. Slice it up, mayo, onions and peppers and a bit of mustard on premium bread...they figured it out long ago before Popeye's sandwich became all the rage.

A small rotisserie chicken at Smith's Supermarket is around $10. At Cid's Food Market, the organic roties are around $20 to $25. Fried chicken is cheaper but appears to be a large pigeon, LOL!

That sucks, John.
Around here, the Costco rotisserie chickens are humongous...$5.99.
Fried chicken at Albertsons 8 pc. $6.99...large pieces and tasty.

usuals done at walks & WAYS. To be Schwan #662 (2) toaster waffles, one cycle. Add usuals, nuke to plateful of mess, add k-cup cocoa, all to smoking room desk, eat & continue with the papers. Seems few do Schwan, but in case some do a few items, one of my fav breakfast items in rotation is dis-continued. #506 ham/cheese omelet. Will just order one more of #717 breakfast bowl. Visits on bi-weekly schedule.

Last time I was in Albertson's in Taos Fried Chicken 8-piece was $8.99. They had a deal for 10 pieces of legs and thighs for $6.99. All their chicken parts are small. Yes, they do a good job with the fryer. Moist and tasty. Sometimes they have a "Monday Special" with a reduced price. There is a high demand at the chicken counter, so they can price as they like. Limited competition between Albertson's and Smith's (Kroeger). I suspect Price Fixing and other forms of collusion. This along with keeping me under surveillance..... (LOL!)

Last night was t-bone steaks and mashed potatoes. Gravy? I miss that meal but it is not on my new diet plan. I did cheat with a Marie Calendar Turkey Pie and added steamed snap peas, green peas, and baby bok choy.

assuming at this time that the diner across from grocery store will have sufficent staff, put away groceries first...two fish frys & sides, either cod or haddock depending on wholesale cost to owners. Can't tell the difference. No tarter for me, just reheat with a little butter, to TV & news feed CBS. Tea & 2 dinner rolls later, company of Jeopardy

I did cheat with a Marie Calendar Turkey Pie and added steamed snap peas, green peas, and baby bok choy. Unless I am missing something, Knorrs gravy in the packets, beef, chicken or pork is very dietetic. Knew a German chef a long time ago that always started his gravy with knorrs oxtail mix.

Very standard in German Kitchens to use Knorr Oxtail or Leek Soup & Gravy Mix. I do the same with the Leek. Not eating red meat so no oxtail.
