We had enough to worry the dogs a tad...over now thank goodness. We ain't seen much of a rain in a good while; I wonder if they aren't a bad idea around here. But then again, we're just the funny old couple across the road.

![oldcdgr](//storage.forums.net/6447321/images/juvLHSbPyjgJlrDFxGym.gif) It’s been dry and rainy, spotty showers, saw them advertising safety handleing fireworks on tv so I guess it’s legal , no ban. Got the place spiffed up, lawn mowed, field bushogged. Son in Houston is working setting up a new Clinic, Mom kind of disappointed, she wanted to cook for him. SA LA VIE.

It's damp enough for fireworks up here. Lots of towns doing big displays. Been there, done that. We'll watch it on TV.

The holiday weather isn't very inspiring here in NE Ohio...81° with intermittent rain. Maybe I'll get in a pipe later on. In the meantime, I'm watching the Guardians vs White Sox game.

We got in a little over 6 miles this morning. Beautiful hike through the conifers and aspens.
We came home and I grilled burgers which I'm now eating while the chicken gets a turn on the grill. Tara made tater salad for dinner. I heard a tantalizing rumor of possible cookie baking later. May the stars align.

Haaaaaaahhhhhht. It is haaahhht. I went out to check on mole activity and that was enough for me. If I'm dumb enough to go outside and have a smoke . . . well, I'm dumb. What was it that guy told himself in Sons of Katie Elder? "You've done a lot of fool things in your life but you haven't done one lately and you're overdue." Something like that?

My dumb arse decided to get out in the sun and chop some low limbs off the trees, run the hedge trimmers through some of the virginia creeper, and rake it all up.
If I keel over, it's just Darwin at work.

Cutting back the jungle that is my backyard got about 1/4 of the way done now im taking a break My back yard is overgrown as well. Some of the plants like new Aspens and other volunteers I am ok with. Too many noxious plant seeds come in the with ditch water. I delivered the DR Mower to a repair guy in town who will attempt resurrection. Hoping for the best since I cannot afford to replace it.

Yes, with the correct blades. 15 HP Kawasaki V-Twin. It was their best machine back in 2000. They have ones now which are even more powerful.

The worry is the engine seizing after sitting for many years. I hope it can be made to run again. Engine seizing, the rings or the valves, is more common in humid places. This being arid, the chances are less but it can still happen.

The neighborhood fireworks here went on like a war zone until 10:30 last night when, sadly, a torrential rain shower put an end to it all.

I sprayed for boss yesterday his place and in at the ranch for Goat heads and weeds then the irrigation ditches and yes lots of weeds pop up from being carried in with the irrigation water.

I heard not so much as single firecracker last night. Greatly relieved by that. My poor dog has trouble with explosions.

Beautiful day. I slept until 10:30!
Walked the dogs and mowed. Heading out for a smoke in a bit.
Tonight we see Drive-by Truckers at the Fillmore. Always good to see the fellas. Great live shows.
Busy music month. Wednesday we have Sarah Shook, then Jason Isbell in Dillon. Then we're headed to Missoula to see Pearl Jam and probably Tyler Childers unless we're ready to head home. Plenty of time to explore Glacier NP.

Just finished the yard mowing. It cooled off more than advertised, here, after a shower blew through last night. Our high was only about 89. I don't think we got all that much rain. Maybe a third of an inch. I'm sure the thirsty earth appreciated it, though. I'm curious to see if it reactivates my mole. I don't know if he went kinda still because the thumpers are working, or if it was just because the ground had gotten so hard and dry.

Took a real shower with the help of the wife so much better than wipes or sponge bath. She declined to offer HAWK TUAH but you can't blame a man for trying to get lucky. Watching Snowpiercer marathon getting ready for the final season. 95 in the swamp while we wait for the next hurricane.

Got a break from the heat today with a quarter inch of rain. It dropped from 94 to 77. More rain ahead.

I just had another visit from Molly the black Lab. She's getting lanky, the meathead dog.
