Another confession: I have NEVER used a filter in any of my pipes. Maybe I'm missing something...

Just ordered some filters from Amazon. FOR SCIENCE!

I hand rub my flakes and I store in Mason jars and I clean with VSOP brandy, and the filter don't even make it to the register

I had a pipe that only smoked ok with a filter, I traded it at a local b&m for a rossi and never looked back.
I haven't torn down a pipe aside from the cobs in something like 8 months.

Coming from a background of multiple educations but never really using them as a career, I use my science knowledge to go a bit far with my tobacco storage and management.
Jars are sterilized. Tobacco is handled with gloves unless being pulled from a smaller jar in preparation to fill a bowl. Everything kept in only pint jars to minimize the risk of complete mold infection in one large jar. Even cellared tobacco is placed in jars so that it can be monitored. One jar is dedicated as #1 for it to be pulled from but what is pulled is put into a smaller 2oz jar to avoid opening the dedicated pint jar over and over again thus possibly ruining a larger amount.
It’s pretty over the top, I know.

I noticed today that I almost have a hole through the top of one of my cob stems. So what did I do? Flipped it over of course. The bottom was like brand new. See, you missed a trick...Keep going until the hole appears, block the main hole and you've got yourself a bespoke MM p-lip. I also smoke all my cobs with filters (except the cobbit shire, which can't take them). I don't think it makes any difference to the smoke (not for me anyway, who can't taste differences from blends let alone what a filter would do), but it soaks up my drool, which is a good thing for me.

Same here. I dont notice any change in flavor. It does stop a lot of moisture buildup, and stops bits of dottle flying into my mouth, which is a pet peeve of mine.

My confession: The thoughts I have while smoking are not any greater or lesser than the thoughts i have all the time. I've noticed that. They are some how clearer though. I can almost audibly hear my thoughts saying, "you need to take out the garbage tonight". Edit: maybe that's just my wife....

Tobacco is handled with gloves unless being pulled from a smaller jar in preparation to fill a bowl I never touch the tobacco I'm cellaring, I use clean tongs. Even the jars I smoke out of. I dump a little out of the jar and then pinch that into my pipe.

I clean my pipes with isopropyl alcohol. I don't have any dedicated pipes. I smoke everything in every pipe, ghosting be damned. I have no idea how to pack a pipe, I could never explain it, my fingers just do it and it works. I do all of the above as well as using "Clean & Cure" for almost all my years smoking. I finish smoking a bowl, clear the ashes ( No dottle as I smoke mainly Va's and Balkans) Blow thru the pipe, put a cleaner down it and set the pipe to cool after giving it a good rubbing of "nose oil" . I use Golgate toothpaste on my stems. Cleans 'em up nice and leaves a nice taste on the bit ! About once a month I choose about 10 pipes that have been in my monthly rotation, thoroughly clean them, ream as needed and put them away till there turn in the rotation comes up . Been working this way for the last 50 years so no need to change ! Every one does what works for them !

My secret on Isopropyl is to use the green variety. Make sure it does not say MENTHOl. Pipe Sweeteners on sale for a few bucks a couple ounces are nothing more than Spearmint Alc. I got four 16 oz bottles for 8$ delivered. Good thing, as I always misplace them. Another not so secret are the crapgame mixes where you dump all your so-so vanillas or other things into one jar and let them become One with the Universe. Mixing different flavors, ie Cherry and Vanilla, are crapgame hybrids, but totally within rules. I managed some Dutch Chocolate English and Peach Ice Cream Float with crapgame's rules Great Subject, @10furlongs. All our notes in one thread

Confession: I do not own a churchwarden. Not sure I really want one. Get one of the Cobbits, though not the longer wizard. Others are perfect holding length, an inch or so longer than a Canadian Billiard

Been using the ol hand-turned herb grinder for years. Keep a few gallons of high octane Tennessee hooch on hand year round for general pipe cleaning (not for meers) and medicinal body n spirit cleansing. Filters now n then (I like em). Mason jars only for surefire preservation...

While, in general, I am blameless and have an alibi, it is true that I re-hydrate some mixtures with a few drops of Scotch or Irish Whisky. Ha! I do the same thing.

Confession: I could not get out of bed or leave the house for three weeks when McClelland shut down.
Just kidding - but here's a real one: I have a couple of new pipes I haven't smoked yet because I almost feel like I'll wreck them by burning dry leaves in them.

One of my biggest sins to confess: I keep a spray bottle with distilled water in it, but also add a small amount of Kosher (food grade) PG to it. Besides helping keep moisture it helps keep the mold away

I take my pipes apart and clean them when they get kinda funky.. my tobacco is regularly fondled.. I use hot water to remove the funk in the stem with a bristle cleaner then use a tapered cleaner with isopropyl to sanitize the stem. all of my pipes smoke wonderfully but none smoke as well as my cobs.it took many years to figure out how to smoke flakes other than cutting them into 3/8 in pieces and rubbing them into a ribbon type affair and packing the like I would a ribbon blend..crumble cakes are becoming my new favorite tobacco for contemplation but when I need to veg I reach for an aro and seasonal aros are my favorite such as pumpkin spice and Egg Nog. I like maple anything so I have a few different maple aro blends that I really enjoy.

I can't really tell the difference between decent grain and really nice grain in briar. I'm pretty much a meerschaum guy, but I see pipes posted and think "oh hey that grain looks cool" and someone else comes along and grades it with a "meh" and I'm just left wondering what the heck was wrong with it.
