The wife watching the Grammys, I am listening in from afar...
Earth Wind and fire provided the instrumentation for some rapper inside a cage that the actor/dancers feigned climbing into...the rapper rhymed pretty badly and was as memorable as last weeks fart....but he got plenty of cheers from the trained chumps in the audience.
This is what passes for talent?
To be fair there are good acts, but some people deserve booing.

I'm with Ted. I never watch those award shows, New Years Eve shows, Super Bowl half-time shows, etc. Always terrible, IMHO.

Most can't do anything original or what your hearing isn't even their real voice. Thank God for classic rock and oldies radio stations.

There is pop music that became popular on it's own merit and then there is the crap they write using refined formulae based on previous artists success(Today's 'Pop Music'). The difference is obvious to someone who actually loves music.

A clear sign that they aren't worth listening to is when they have dancers on stage with them.

Wife loves seeing gowns these creeps wear, so as a good husband I tune theRed Carpet show for her, Dolly was on the Grammies, she I respect and love her work, so when wife says let’s watch the Grammies and see Dolly I tell her, there are 4 televisions in this house and one of em ain’t watching the Grammies. She settled for a good British detective show. I had been forewarned Michelle would be on the show. Nuff said.

I didn't make it through the first song, as that black rapper in the red jump suit started talking into the mic sounding like a bullfrog with a sore throat, and all the people strutting around like a bunch of barn yard banny roosters...just the epitome of cheap sensationalism.

You mean Travis Scott? The intro music was pretty whiny but the main part of the performance was pretty good. I mean, these Grammy performances are never the best you hear from any artist, since they don’t have the control of the studio environment or the opportunity to really do their own setup and get the crowd going with a full set like in a concert, but there’s no denying the man’s got talent. And it’s not a song we’ve heard so many times we have to hit the mute button when it comes on, like “Havana”.

Awards shows, halftime shows, news readers hosting parades, etc, never make it onto my entertainment radar. I do, however think there is a lot of good music still being made. I find things I like all the time. Not formulaic crap or people just copying another's sound. I can also think of a lot of music from the 60s, 70s and 80s, that was garbage. Bubblegum and disco come to mind as genres that mostly sucked. Fifty years from now, people will still know who Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton or Ray Charles were. (Not sure why I picked those three) Most artists will be forgotten.

I agree with Mr Stogie. I don't like everything Travis Scott does, but he does have some class A songs. Watching a live performance on TV will never be as good as it is in person. One performance isn't any way to judge an artist. Every single one of everyone's favorite artists have played crappy gigs.

The average man on the street now probably doesn't know Beethoven from Bach.

Travis Scott is a local hero for some reason. He has an album out that is supposed to be about our defunct theme park Astroworld. I don't get it. Filthy and unmusical crap. I just wish he would go away. We used to enjoy the awards shows in the old days.
