That sums it up perfectly. ...except for "Rap"... it f***ing sucks, big-time. Wouldn't that still fall under the quoted post under "bad music that appeals to some"? |

Even I listen to rap sometimes got to stay current. You learn cool phrases like. I come to eat. It means that you are doing your best or something like that.

Did you ever think having a avatar of Castro with a camera would earn you respect and credibility. I rest my case. No, I just like the photo. I don't use avatars to earn credibility and respect. I'd tell you what caused you to lose credibility and respect in this thread but I bet you're not interested so I'll just leave it alone. Also, you'd sound smarter if you could tell the difference between Castro and Che. They look nothing alike! Not knowing one communist criminal from another does not make one stupid. It’s not glorifying at all - he’s basically got his own country, but he has to settle for the Russian copy of a camera that I used to own the Japanese original of, and he looks no more dignified than I do when he’s trying to figure out the exposure. |

Awards shows, halftime shows, news readers hosting parades, etc, never make it onto my entertainment radar. I do, however think there is a lot of good music still being made. I find things I like all the time. Not formulaic crap or people just copying another's sound. I can also think of a lot of music from the 60s, 70s and 80s, that was garbage. Bubblegum and disco come to mind as genres that mostly sucked. Fifty years from now, people will still know who Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton or Ray Charles were. (Not sure why I picked those three) Most artists will be forgotten. My son's favorite bands are the Stones, Alice Cooper, the Doors, and Iron Butterfly. Decent taste! I am impressed. |

Hell, if one member can have a Reagan avatar, another can have a Che avatar.
I think it's odd for guys who grew up in the rebellious 60s to totally dismiss rap. There's a lot of creativity and social/political commentary that tends to get less attention than some of the more TV-friendly stuff out there. Sex and violence (and combinations of the two) seem to be acceptable to the mainstream, but most people don't hear the kind of hip hop that has the righteous anger and civil rights statements that were being made in the 60s, or in the 70s and 80s with punk.

I made it through the first song Havana and saw Mike Obama and after the GA GA got her reward I was done. Nothing to see here folks even my twenty three year old daughter and her friends where like who are these people.
