How charitable to suggest I was making a racial statement while stating that I could not not seriously suggest you might be... whatever.
Yeah, I remember people of a certain political persuasion constantly saying Bushchimp with superimposed/ morphed pictures of such.
Mark Knopfler’s song had nothing to do with such nonsense unless one is predisposed to draw such conclusions.

I hear you...I wore baggies, and whaler bell bottoms, had a leisure suit...never made it to parachute pants and a mullet though. Belt (if there is one) under the level of the testicles with underweared butt hanging out just always seemed pretty lame to me. I have seen kids with their entire rear out of their pants and their shirts tucked into their briefs. I honestly know whether to laugh or feel sick. haha Thankfully that look was out by the time my son was in high school. However, I know my grandparents looked at the long hair, faded jeans, etc, of the late sixties and seventies and had the same reaction. Teens do it to express their growing independence from their parents and uniqueness of their g-g-g-generation, if you get my drift (The Who, if you dont). Parents/others are supposed to be shocked.

Mark Knopfler’s song had nothing to do with such nonsense unless one is predisposed to draw such conclusions. The difference - the really, really big difference - being that there is not a long, ugly history of white people being compared to monkeys to suggest that they are inferior and sub-human, which was used to justify the slave trade and is still being used by people like Roseanne Barr. I don't doubt that the song had nothing to do with such nonsense, I just thought it was an odd choice to quote given the thread's subject. I didn't say it was intentional on your part.

I saw the underwear kid I speak of weeks ago.. haha There are always one or two teens that favor vintage looks. As you guys undoubtedly know, I'm a gourmet, and while dining at the Golden Corral a month or so ago, I noticed a number of gentlemen sporting the hanging pants fashion sense. They were, however, all in their late twenties or early thirties, and their children were better attired (IMHO), i.e., there is hope for the future ... at least until the kids reach their teens ... and are on my lawn.

I was looking around my neighborhood for restaurants on one occasion and my guest jokingly asked if we had a Golden Coral( as we were just earlier joking about how terrible the food was)... I found there was in fact one nearby and as I was looking through the google user images, I stumbled across what was maybe one of the funniest things I have ever seen on google maps- A series of three or four photos unfolding to tell the story of some lucky gal being proposed to. At a table next to the buffet at a Golden Coral, seemingly surrounded by strangers, this young man proposed.
The Golden Coral in Monroeville PA if you wanna see if they're still up. haha It looks as though she said 'yes'. She either loves buffets or shares her fiance's sense of humor. Maybe both.

ha,ha . . . this thread isn't locked yet? - There were 3 or 4 NEW pages overnight!! I never knew we were so passionate about musical differences. Now I know that's a valid reason for bands splitting up. On a more serious note, the whole thread did take a more personal tone during the night when one wasn't needed. If people have different opinions on music, their opinion is just as valid as the next person's (but that's just my opinion). There is no need go get personal.

Naw just a bunch of haters looking for a clash. I was surprised how fast the racist card was used. If you can win a fair argument toss out the racist card. I am pretty racist myself being married to a Spanish woman and having three black nieces and nephews. I am a American if you cant handle that you might be in the wrong country. Cjico why are you a hater.

A bunch of old white men complaining about rap music is one thing, but it was your “Mike Obama” reference that set off the downward spiral.

In before the lock. I’m white, been poor, picked cotton, made fun of my Cajun accent, made fun of my feed sack shirts made by my Grandmaw, moved in 4 th grade to Brownsville Texas where Dad started the shrimping industry , had to fight the Mexicans every day, helped me in later life. The point I’m trying to make it’s not only one race that gets abused and for one I’m tired of the uninformed people yelling Racist, hands up don’t shoot. I have cousins who have married black people, a cousin who died and was gay, I loved him, such a good kid. Fished with a one armed man who had a big business and when he wouldn’t let his wife see his grandchild because he was black, I ripped his arse in on a fishing trio, it worked, his wife got to see her grand child. I’m a simple man and I believe most people forget that we all are trying to live in this F**KED up world. We have likes and dislikes, but we all need somebody to love, that’s why the Patch works even if we’re old pissants. That’s my story if you don’t like it F**K YOU.
