I dropped off my BFR .44mag at the gunsmith today. He's drilling, tapping and installing a custom front sight I had made for it, as it came from the factory set up for a scope. He's also adjusting the timing and slicking the internals up a bit. Im hoping to make it my elk buster this fall. The smith called. He already has it done, and Shweetie will be bringing it home Saturday. I also got permission today to hunt on a big ranch up on the Canadian border anytime I want. Things are coming together. You know that that BFR will look pretty small against a grizzly or a bull moose. 😅👀

My last grizzly was taken with 325grn. But Ill just be looking for elk/deer/blackies this time around.

Did my part to stimulate the economy with my stimulus check. Bought a Ruger PC Charger - and accessories. The gun was just released in March so had to pay MSRP. Looks like it's going to be a fun gun to shoot - and not bad for home protection.

A model 26008, "Sightmark Ultra Shot Multi Red & Green Plus Reflex Sight". I have the same sight on a couple of AR's. Like it very much. Planning to put one on a CZ Scorpion I have too.

Nice sight for the price. I have several red dot sights that were under $150 and I haven't had a single issue with any of them.

My word, that's gorgeous; sublime wood you found there. It appears you changed the sights, too. Is that the 44, 45 or 357?

He is right, Derek. If that barrel is not over 16" long with that stock, you have some serious legal issues boiling up. BATF dont play.

Yup, sights are super easy to change and set up once with a few shots to align properly. This is a Henry Mares Leg .357. My Rossi that I also made a custom stock for a number of years ago is a 44 magnum. I much prefer the quality of the Henry.

No issues here in the Dakota’s or Montana with the ATF. I’m carrying as a rifle, not a pistol. Here they are not measuring the barrel. Now NY, NJ, California and a few other States this would make for a serious issues.

Nobody bothers you up in these areas. I know the 16” barrel is not legal for a true rifle. But thanks for the heads up.
By the way, it’s because of you and one other gentleman I rarely post. You should keep your snide remarks to yourself. Your a crotchety old man, just my opinion for what it’s worth.

Picked out a house and were in the realtors parking lot, ready to buy it, when my wife decided she couldn't leave the kids. So, for now, I'm stuck in Illinois. But after the last year of BS, she's starting to come around. We were planning on a road trip this summer out to Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming - but that's probably not happening now.

So, it's OK to own a machine gun, sawed off shotgun and other banned weapon, no federal law enforcement and the local police just look the other way? I ain't buying it. Maybe we should find someone who lives in the Dakotas and ask them. 😈

I have a carry conceal permit as well, so it’s not illegal to own or carry with the original stock or the long stock I made with a pistol permit. It’s still in the pistol category, but with the long stock it’s an excellent way to sight in from the shoulder. Because your the type of guy I can’t stomach, full of 💩, you can be sure this will be my last post. This forum is not even worth my time lurking. Nor will I respond to any of your idiotic personal attacks.

It's not a legal rifle to own without a tax stamp and payment of 200$ and a 3-4 month investigation of your criminal record and character. Are you going to buy the tax stamp for your buddy too?

I am looking to buy a coach gun but I am a little worried; I know me and sure as shootin' one of the first things I will do when I get it is raise it over me head and yell, "This is my BOOOOM STICK!"
I'll try to wait until I get in the parking lot, at least.

I'll try to wait until I get in the parking lot, at least. I had one a few decades ago. The only ammo we had was buckshot and slugs. I was severely bruised. With reasonable ammo they are a lot of fun. I sold it to my best friend back then and he hasn't shot it since. Mine was a hammer gun, which is fun, but for home defense the hammerless is more practical.(And watch out for the Evil Hand!)
