Thanks for reminding us that was definitely NFA Ron. Which is not a problem IF you pays the tax and gets the stamp. If.

We went to Jacksonville, FL to see Mom one more time. We were worried that she would not even remember that she had a son named John. I asked my brothers for Dad's single shot shoot gun and his 22. They were glad to give them to me. Both of these guns were purchased around World War II. One of my brothers volunteered to drop the bullets to the local police. I am not brave enough to use the bullets / shells from that far back.

Most of my M2 Ball ammo is from the 1950’s... in the case of say an M1 Garand, it is more problematic to shoot modern 30.06 if a person does not understand the difference between the two, you can damage the Op-rod, rendering the part useless. Vintage ammo in the original box is often valuable to collectors.

The oldest ammo I have used was from 1939. Worked fine. I had some 32 long Colts that my dad had that I wouldn't shoot because the cases were corroded. If it looks good do it.

Same for shotgun shells? I've got some older stuff that I'd like to use ... thanks!

Yes, visibly corroded or damaged ammo is a different story.
Not to be confused with ammo with corrosive primers that are not a problem to shoot, but you have to clean the gun after shooting it. I have a case of WWII bore cleaner just for that, nasty stuff, but it works great!

My son bought me 4 boxes of Hornady Critical Defense FTX ammo, 185 grain .45 ACP. Two boxes to shoot for functionality/ feeding, 2 boxes for for loading. I took a few boxes over to a buddy's property early today, and we performed the water jug test. Less recoil than other self defense loads with one hell of a punch. The watermelon was liquefied from the hydro-static shock and expansion. The rounds fed like a hungry Mastiff, and the expansion was remarkable....two 14 round mags, and one in the snout. When I am packing this anvil, if I cannot solve problems with 29 rounds of this, I have some serious issues and probably need a rifle. I set out to test this reviewer, and he was right on. I shot mine from a 5 inch barrel 1000 fps from the chronograph. edited...

The wife asked me what I wanted to get, she knows that I have a hankering for a new pistola.
A Dan Wesson Valor Commander in 9mm fits the bill for me.

I am working in the office for 2 days, and switching trailers in Kingman with a driver, then 4 days off thank God.
I might be in your neck of the woods, and might drop a package on your porch...Thursday-Sat.

It would be great to hang out for a bit if it's on Thursday ... could even grab some Thai or Mexican Food and have a smoke! If it's Fri-Sat, you could come by for the "full tour" of the Lab. LOL

I have no real need for a new gun but was hoping for one of these. I believe they are made by Uberti but sold through Cimarron Firearms. Model P, 1873, Army. I do not need one but always admired them.

Color Case Hardened and in the original Colt factory Blue, "Royal Blue", I think it became known as.
Uberti does a fine job making these.

^^^^ The nice thing about most Hardball is it almost never fails to load and eject. The 1911 so loaded is about as flawless as I have seen in an autoloader. That reliability means a lot to me.

Me neither, but you want to make the biggest hole in the perp you can, with the projectile lodging inside him, not travelling across the street and lodging into little Suzie in her bedroom, or an innocent bystander.

Did my part to stimulate the economy with my stimulus check. Bought a Ruger PC Charger - and accessories. The gun was just released in March so had to pay MSRP. Looks like it's going to be a fun gun to shoot - and not bad for home protection. Sounds like a fun gun. What sight? I admit to using my stimulus check for gun-related stuff as well - picked up a .357 Sig slide for my P320 M17 and also a threaded 9mm barrel. Then for good measure, both black and coyote Wilson grip modules. So here I am in a new pipe forum and talking guns - thanks for the variety of conversation and I hope everyone is staying safe and not too bored. I believe our ranges are still closed, but I plan to check tomorrow morning - have to test out the new hardware. By the way, I think everyone was buying the toilet paper rolls to set up indoor shooting ranges.

A lot of Californian’s are visiting Arizona because they are gettin cabin fever in that state. When the wife and I went to Williams Az. (Gateway to the Grand Canyon), I struck up conversations with no less than five of them when I open carried. I explained to them the need to need to be responsible for your own personal protection. Four out of five, got it.
The other guy chooses to be a victim.

We looked for a place to live everywhere between Texas and California and the prices are so high compared to what we got. We just couldn't move to a smaller house and we could only afford an 1100 sq ft house in Yuma for instance, but we got 2674 sq ft in East Texas. Not every day is so humid and the winters are beautiful.

I would rather live where you are than Yuma, Ron.
You made a good choice.
