Somebody dumped a lab puppy in the woods near me today. A REALLY CUTE lab PUPPY! What a rotten thing to do. Molly just came woofing at the front gate a few minutes ago and paid me another visit. Since we had that downpour mid-afternoon and she's very excitable, I got muddy paw-printed from my shoes to my neck. The pup looks like Molly, but a little younger.

Throw in part ninja for the sneaky effect and I see a heart attack coming.

Throw in part ninja for the sneaky effect and I see a heart attack coming. Pit bull vs chihuahua Would you rather be in water with a lone shark (pitbull) or in piraña infested waters (Chihuahuas)

Eli is getting finicky about his food. Jack never had that problem. In the morning he wanted to go out to do his.bizness and then he wanted his breakfast, immediately. Eli is more interested in looking at his world through the big back window. Food is secondary. He’s also getting a bit bored with his kibble. So I have started warming up some bone broth and pouring it over his dry food.. He likes this, but it still takes second fiddle to checking out the activity outside. He reminds me of Emma in many ways: a 200% hunter.

Today is the one year anniversary for when we adopted Hyacinth. Here she is sitting with yours truly that day a year ago. She was a little unsure of things, but is settling in well.

I had two -- count 'em, two -- visits from Molly the Lab, yesterday. First she came woofin' at the back gate, so I went out and played with her a minute. About an hour later, she came woofin' at the front gate. I didn't go out this time, figuring she just broke loose from a trip to the mailbox and her mom would just as soon not get delayed by a visit with me.
However, a few minutes later I went out to my own mailbox and they were still out, and here she came a-runnin', bouncing around like a rubber ball.

There is nothing quite like the affection and trust of a dog.

That is a three syllable dog…. All of mine were maximum two syllable.
Must be an extra special pooch!

Better today, with the lower temps, but they spent the week running out and coming right back in...Buster gets two different med each day, with peanut butter...Sandy gets no meds, but still gets two rounds of peanut butter each day. They're two of the best kids we ever had, but aren't they all!!!

I’ve got muddy paw prints all over me from going out to play with Molly the Lab for a few minutes. She comes and barks at my gate twice a day (sometimes thrice). It’s been so wet for the last few days, I’ve been ignoring her, but she got to sounding so pitiful this time that I had to go out and throw a few sticks for her. She’s a pistol.

Life is SO much sweeter with our relationships with dogs, even when they aren’t ours. So true. My neighbor has a great Lab who visits here. He is one great dog. Patient with my obnoxious, bossy, Aussie girl.

We had to let Leo go back to the pound some time back… after plumber bills, A/C repair bills… he ripped outdoor hose bibs from the wall, ripped A/C wires, chewed through patio equipment.
He could never be trusted to remain unmonitored in the house, he had to be caged. I knew he would destroy our furnishings. He constantly jumped with a full head of steam, if I blocked him he thought it meant game on! It was just a matter of time before the wife would get injured.
He needed to be someone else’s project.
If we get any more dogs they will be pup raised, don’t want to roll the dice on someone else’s bad dog raising.

Too bad about Leo. Sounds like one of those dogs that grew up without any discipline whatsoever. Dogs want to be a certified member of your pack, but they need guidance. No telling what they’ll turn into when they don’t get it. Like Leo.

Target has a new ad campaign starring a pair of Italian Greyhounds. They are the same color as each of the 2 we had. Tears our hearts.

Sorry to hear that, Charlie, for you guys and for Leo. Sometimes a "rescue" just isn't possible.
