We have a lot of color in the yard, but it hasn't peaked. Wish we had time to run up to Arkansas/Oklahoma for the leaves on the Talamena Scenic highway. We went last year and it was beautiful. Except for the rain. I love to drive on winding, narrow mountain roads in the rain. 😕

Lacy can't reach the steering wheel or brakes.

Steering is overrated anyway.

Gonna take Shine to the vet tommorow, shots and one testicle hasn’t dropped, Checky Checky Lookie Lookie! Lacy ate chocolate out of the wife's drawer on her end table last night. Wife called the vet and he did the calculations and said not to worry. She's fine today.

I haven't been around much lately; Buster's been mighty sick, and the Vet put him on prednisone, and now he's restless as hell and eats and drinks like a bandit...he's never ever peed in the house, till the prednisone drove him to drink, and he's peed inside four times in two weeks...like blindness and lung issues aren't enough. I took him to the Vet this morning for blood work, and $350 later they tell me his heart and lungs are good, for a thirteen year old beagle, but his liver is a tad off, and if a want to test him into old age{ and me out of my life savings} we might be able to pinpoint what he needs to live his best life... I took him off the prednisone, filled his regular meds, and we came home...Buster lives his best life between my feet, and has done so for years...we'll just enjoy what time we both have left.

So sorry to hear about Buster’s problems. Hoping he’s doing better. Making their end-life as good as it can be made is a sad but necessary duty. Good luck to you both.

Sorry to hear about this, Herb. I know you and Buster are tight. Like you said, enjoy the time. It's all any of us can ever do, really.

Been there done that… Sad at seeing the decline of your best friend, and seeing a rapid decline of your treasury. It is a delicate balance to figure where that bubble centers on the level, rely on your intellect, and not your heart as much as we are prone to do with our faithful companions.

Finicky eater? Try this. Pure bacon fat. Eli is almost 60-pounds and gets 2-1/4 cups of his venison & sweet potato kibble in the morning. Sometimes if he gets nothing but kibble (after a couple days of meat scraps, etc.) he’ll give me the evil eye and refuse it. (Spoiled bastid!) But if I melt half a teaspoon of this stuff and mix it up in his kibble he gobbles it right down. Available at Walmart for about $4. Lasts almost 3 months. Good for coats, too.

I use it for cooking. I'm sure Lacy would love it but it would cause an attack of pancreatitus. For big dogs probably not a problem.

And it only takes half a TSP or even less for a small guy.

Shine, renamed Buddy for my wife has a great appetite, vet weighed him and in a month he doubled in size, 20 lbs to 42lbs, vet was surprised, I wasn’t he goes thru a bag in no time, Chowhound he is, loves the wife’s buscits , he sits by my chair while I’m eating them and damn it’s hard not to give him some.

When you cook bacon, super slow melt it in a skillet if you want to supplement the container...might want to keep it separate from the container as it has preservatives factored in... adding to it might screw it up.

Heh. We're pretty good buddies, yeah. She's still got a lot of hyper puppy in her. She anticipates my throw and runs out there and spins in circles, so half the time she doesn't see the stick come down (like the first one in this video) and I have to go get it myself.

Great! What a dog. Thanks for sharing her with us. (Suggestion: Hold phone horizontally. Works much better that way.)

cool video and a huge field for all that energy! It's one of those leftover parcels that happen when areas get built up willy-nilly. You get these odds and ends that aren't big enough to build houses and aren't shaped right to build businesses, so they just sit empty. I got no complaints about it, and Molly certainly doesn't. The deer, rabbits, and hawks don't, either. The only downside to it, really, is whoever owns it doesn't always keep it mowed.
