Beautiful evening- the humidity has dropped drastically. I’m smoking back to back bowls of WCC Terrapin Station in a 2016 Ashton XL Brindle. That is a very sharp looking pipe Thanks. And it smokes beautifully, too...

2015 GH&Co. Grasmere Flake in a Stanwell Brushed Brown 139. With approximately 6 years of age on it, the rose geranium topping has subsided a tad, but the sweetness of the Virginia’s has taken a lead over the topping. Supporting underneath is the toasty, nutty Burley. While the topping still sublimates the tobaccos somewhat, the VaBur combo shines through, making this a delightful smoke. I enjoyed the topping while it was younger, but a little age has only improved this blend IMHO.

There doesn't seem to be much certainty to anything these days. There is a lot of speculation and disinformation being published on the Interwebs.
I'm not a tobacco industry insider, just a user.
The FDA regs seem to be in a state of flux, with lawsuits and court challenges over the last several years. Although the long term prospects don't look good.
Buy it cheap and stack it deep has been my mantra for last few years...

It is indeed getting harder to find favourite blends. Sadly we may have to start hoarding as supply is getting short. That has been the case for the last 2.5-3 years... with just about any product. Somebody on a forum or social media raves about a certain product, and vendor's product pages progressively go "TILT" as the product sells out. Vendor's don't stock products in quantities by the metric ton. So when the "alert" goes out online, people are buying it up in 1-5 lb. quantities, and it's gone in a matter of hours. Buy as much as you can when you come across it. It's the new normal.

I don't believe Bosun Cut Plug has been discontinued, nor is there any intention on the manufacturers part to withhold any products.
Gawith & Hoggarth/Samuel Gawith are relatively small manufacturers, and the time to turn around product is finite.
Since Laudisi (Parent company of SmokingPipes) took over the US distribution from Kretek late last year, they've been placing orders for everything they can get their hands on. Lots of stuff dropped in some pretty significant quantities back February or March of 2021, and was subsequently bought up in buying frenzy, depleting the stocks within a week or two.
I'm fairly certain Laudisi has standing orders in place with GH/SG for additional product. It's just a matter of producing the product and getting it in the pipeline. As to what effect FDA regulations, Deeming rules will have on future availability, that remains to be seen.
Demand for GH/SG product in the US has gone through the roof in the last several years. It's popularity has been driven by more people getting into the hobby, social media and pipe forums pumping it up. I'm pretty sure there will be one more big drop before the end of the year, after that, it's hard to say.
However I doubt that Laudisi would have spent the time and effort to get the distribution, and all that entails, only to be shut down in a short period of time.

I'm sure this has been covered before, I'm relatively new to the site, so I apologize if I'm plowing old ground. Have a couple pipes -- a GBD and a BBB -- where the tenon doesn't fit into the mortise. Is it advisable to lightly sand the tenon? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Some people will sand the tenon in order to make it fit, but I would not. Too easy to remove too much material, or end up with misshapen tenon. Cleaning out the mortise, as was already described, is the first place to start. The join on new pipes can be quite tight also. I usually let them sit for a few weeks to let them acclimate to the atmosphere where I live. Then hit the tenon with some carnauba wax on a buffing wheel. Having to push too hard to get it in there, especially when the shank is rather thin, will usually end up cracking the shank. Absent mindedly did that with an old Moulin Rouge. If you are not comfortable doing the work yourself, then take it to a good pipe repair guy. I'm fortunate have one nearby. I use him for making stems, since I don't have the expertise to do good job with rod stock.

I’ve always been a fan of the Peterson Deluxe System pipes. I have several of them. I started looking for a Pete house pipe a while back. The Terra Cotta finish ones were nice, but I had a tough time finding one at a reasonable price. The Oak house pipes showed up on few sites, a few here and there, and got snapped up fairly quick. So I saw one that appealed to me and placed the order... twice. Seems I saw one on another site, and forgot I had already placed an order for one. 😜 So, now that the weather is nice, I decided to take one for an inaugural spin. I mixed up some Granger (75%) and 5100 (12.5%) and Black Irish X (12.5%). Settling in for an extended smoke.

Russ’ Cavendish in the Woods in a “stretch” 1930’s Kaywoodie Drinkless Suntan 7013. The stem was hacked when I got it. Had the button cut off and a round file used to cut some grooves emulating a button across the bit. I spliced a new rear section adding a few inches, hence the stretch...

2015 GH&Co Grasmere Flake in a Stanwell Brushed Brown 139. The Rose/Geranium topping has receded from what it was when fresh, and is more of a pleasant background player. The Virginia’s are sweet and bready. There is a little Burley nuttiness also. I liked it when the Rose/Geranium flavor was a bit more pronounced; At this age I absolutely love it!

I keep all my tobacco in my basement, where the temperature is normally 65-70 degrees all year round. Some of my older tins have swelled, Virginia blends for the most part. Off-gassing is just a part of tobacco aging.
As far as mold, that's just the nature of the beast when it comes to tobacco, and it can occur with any vendor. Most vendors will replace tins that have mold if they were kept sealed.
I haven't run across a moldy tin in decades.

I saw that video somewhere else.
I guess I question holding cartridge in place using a screw on cap... Sure, for the first several milliseconds the case expands in the chamber and holds itself there until the pressure drops.
Using old questionable ammunition isn't all that advisable either.
Actions and methods for dealing with serious overpressure were developed decades ago. The Mauser 98 and the Hatcher hole come to mind. Big beefy bolt lugs, a safety lug and properly heat treated receivers.
